Custom Handfasting Cord – Celtic Wedding Triple Braid with Charms

Handfasting is an ancient Celtic ritual representing the spiritual union of a couple. This tradition involves the binding of the couples hands to symbolize the binding of their hearts and lives. Traditonally, this union lasted for “a year and a day”, at which point the couple could stay together and renew their vows or go their own ways without ill will. Today, this ritual is often incorporated into the legal wedding ceremony, much like unity candles or sand jars!

This listing is for a custom handfasting cord, with charms. Your cord will be fashioned of 9 cotton ropes in your choice of color(s) - this cord is typically woven with 4 colors but I can craft it with more (5 colors means two outer colors instead of just one)! Please let me know in the personalization options what you would like the “outer” color to be (in the sample picture, it is cream). If you do not specify which color is the outer color, I will attempt to reach out to you but if I cannot get in contact with you, I will use my intuition and craft the cord as I think it will look best. This cord measures 6 feet long and approximately 3/4 inch wide when complete. Each end will be clamped to keep your special piece from fraying and have your choice of dangle or charm on the ends!

My heart goes into the making of my handfasting cords, these are one of my heart and soul items (I put love and positive energy into all my items but these get some extra love). Each braid is woven with the deepest intention for a happy, lifelong union for the couple using my cord. 💜💜💜

Please select your personalization options - color and charm selections (metallic cording can be added as the inner color - as the outer color it causes the cord to not be as flexible or tightly woven and with any combination of colors). If you wish for anything not seen (more colors, other charm options, etc) please message us before purchase, oft times we are more than happy and able to accommodate with no delay. Your cord will come in a beautiful, white organza bag for safekeeping before your special day.
